About RMS Guitar Repair

Thank you for visiting RMS Guitar Repair! I take great pride in my work and also enjoy meeting with customers to achieve their expected results. I provide a 1-on-1 service and you will meet the person that will be repairing, customizing, building or setting up your instrument. We will discuss all work to be performed in detail and in writing. Your instrument will be repaired, customized, built or setup to your specifications or to factory spec's, if you prefer. Full-time hours: 10am - 6pm, Monday - Friday. Please email for further details.

I have been building and repairing guitars for over 30 years. I'm also a musician who understands the importance of a well-maintained instrument. On stage or at home, you want to be assured that your instrument is in optimal playing condition. I'll make sure your guitar is at its best.

Building and repair is in my blood, being a former cabinetmaker and Union finish carpenter. Certified in wood and metal construction techniques, design and electronics. Trained employees in construction techniques.

Apparently it runs in the family; my grandfather was a renowned Chicago violin maker.

I have been in bands most of my life. Loyal clients, local bands and band members have always trusted me with their instruments. Earning your trust is also very important to me!

I'm sure you will find my pricing to be very fair and the quality of my work to be among the best.

Thanks, Bob

Here is some additional information (and a few friendly FYI tips below):

  • I work on a first-come, first-served basis and by confirmed appointment. I work very hard to be fair to all of my customers.
  • We will meet and discuss your guitar(s) and I'll present you with a written estimate. Usually 15 minutes, or so (per guitar) to discuss details.
  • I typically have a 1- 2 week +/- turnaround, depending on the job and work load. Basically, guitars are worked on in the order that they were received.
  • I'm always up-front and honest about time frame. We will discuss all details at estimate / meeting. Part orders can add to time frame.
  • All guitars get my undivided and individual attention.
  • Please leave the strings on, so playability, frets, neck bow/angle, electronics, etc. can all be evaluated at estimate / meeting. Please bring your guitar in case(s) for protection.
  • Please do not leave your guitar in a car / outside all day (on day of appointment and as a general rule), as extreme heat or cold will damage any guitar (body and finish cracks, glue issues, setup issues, etc.).
  • Address, directions and all details will be provided through email.

Thank you, Bob
